Week 20

This week we got Mr.Smith back to work and have been finishing up the sanctuary. We have been putting the door up and the Sanctuary looks pretty complete besides the other door being missing. We are working on that. However, the door we have painted was a nude the same as the inside. The hinges are black and most of the windows are put in they just need to be finished up. We are getting to the last week of school and are very low on time now. We have still much to finish with the Sanctuary including up the touch ups of painting, finishing the windows, the other door, the vinyl cut outs, Etc. I think we can basically finish it by the time we all leave maybe little things will need to be finished but we got this teamwork.
What I have learned in this class throughout this year have been things I would not have learned if I did not take this class . I have learned meany manly things like building a structure! Also learning to make these amazing looking jars. Sandblasting and making stickers with vinyl. I have learned how to use tools I never even knew existed. Besides the manly things I also learned more about the news and to stay and involved, history lessons, debates, and way more. I have learned so much from listening and also working. I am glad I got to experience this class and the way you have to use numbers in the  real world.

Week 19

This week we have lost somebody very important. Everything will be okay though the Sanctuary is still beautiful and sitting inside the shelter on a warm day was relaxing. We have been watching videos in class this past week about many different things. Different ways of building things. It was very complex and difficult but I also got to finish a couple projects for my classes. It has been a successful week still but we hope to get Mr.Smith back very soon.

My regards,

I hope you feel better Mr.Smith

Week 18

This week in the shop we moved the Sanctuary and now it is closer to our building and more out of the way. It was taken apart and put back together which was what our goal was, being able to disassemble the structure. There are little parts of the inside that still needs painting we have been doing touch ups on the door so now our frames look a gorgeous purple with an undercoat of brown. I learned how to build a little screwed up window that did not quite fit, but we are working on that. A door we have built was sandblasted yesterday and will be ready in no time. We have to create the slideshow which we are working on with all the picture Nikki took. More to come in the shop.
Define Yourself? How do you define yourself hmm. In my opinion I can be a positive person but in many situations I am also a very emotional teenage girl. I am a human like every other human. There are not many ways to define myself other than I try to do what is best for myself and stay happy in not so happy situations. I get my work done when I start it and also continue to stay organized. There are many details of me as I would love to talk about myself all day, I do not have that long so I will end it there until next time..

Week #17

This week in the shop we continue to work on the Sanctuary. We now know that the doors are to big, so we will build our own doors. There are the ideas for the top of the Sanctuary for putting plasma cuts in every other opening and windows or something in the other openings? Ideas. I have been painting the inside and we are completely finished. The way the cream color brightens the room is really great, good thing we chose that color. Others painted the bottom part of the Sanctuary so it is not an orange brown gross color nobody liked. It has started to get gloomy and now it rains which has not stopped everyone in the shop still working.
What does school mean to you? The essential question this week is very interesting and makes you think. School is an important aspect to life and being smart to go somewhere in life. Going to school can teach you so much and set you up for a further career in life. School to me makes you more outgoing and capable of making friends, teaches you what you will need to know and has amazing resources to help you.

Week 16

This week in the shop we have been working hard to finish this Sanctuary with a month left of school. We have started painting the inside somewhat of a cream color. Many people have been stopping by to take a look at our beautiful Sanctuary saying it has a lot of potential as we well know, but is great to hear. The whole roof has been put on and looks great. We still have to add some style to the Sanctuary and the doors and windows. The inside and the trim painting will be done within a week and we will be finished with all the painting finally!
What is the ideal form of government and why? Every person has a different view on which government they prefer. In my opinion Democracy is the best and most ideal form of government. I like Democracy although it is frowned upon for the reason that everyone is basically equal on the other hand it seems too much. Democracy is ideal because it is the only government where you get a say and everyone has their own voice on things. We have freedom in Democracy and helps solve problems in better ways than other forms of government do. Those in my opinion are the reasons why Democracy is the ideal form of government.

Week 15

This week in the shop has been very productive. We have put I would say more than half the roof on the Sanctuary and painted the whole outside of it a bamboo color, which I helped paint. As well as some of the inside appears as a cream color. The windows are being worked on around the edges. For half the week the shop was sunny until the last couple rainy days where there isn't much to do other than the work on the little things we need to finish this thing. We have made so much progress with the sanctuary. However we still have important things to do that need to be completed. It is only a little difficult to paint in the little cracks and corners of wood in the sanctuary.
There are four potential career paths I could or anybody yet to work could potentially end up in either minimum wage, a living wage, middle class, and crazy rich. Which is most enjoyable and how do you need to get there. The job that would settle for my minimum wage would be a job in retail for clothing or shoes and doesn't require an education besides the basic speaking skills. Living wage being a manager at a store or restaurant doesn't involve much besides a high school degree or some type of GED. For middle class I could be a Dental Hygienist which requires an associates degree from college. Rich I could be a business women and make my own business which could require school depending on what you want. The one I would love to do the most would either be in retail because I enjoy it the most or owning a business to myself.

Week 14

In the shop we chose the colors of the sanctuary which in my opinion are alright. The top is like a purplish and I have yet to find a word to describe the color of the outside so I will get back to you. Painting the sanctuary has been a really calming project to work on. We also worked on banners helping Brittany out put tape on and folding which was actually a way harder job than it sounds haha. I have also been doing some side work for a friend making a jar, sand blasting and making stickers
May 29,1999, the day I was born. Being born in the last generation of the 90s starting a new century where many new things are being invented. Coming into a world where there are advances in technology and new things getting created almost every day. Coming into a time where there is less racism and war is a good advantage but economically in the 21st century we are killing our Earth. In history if I was born long before 99 everything would be so much different people would be walking everywhere and sending letters instead of texts and calls, gas would be like 50 cents instead of dollars. Are we in the time to be alive or would it have been better to be born earlier? Hmm.

Week #13

This week has been such a productive week with the shop. All the walls are put up and doors cut out as well as the windows. I have put holes in the wall so it can be a start for where to cut out the door which was a big task for me because I got confused when it was in reverse and I was trying to go through. Yesterday I did some fabulous work sand blasting the window sills.

There are a few sides on the debate of immigration. Does immigration bad, does it bringing terrorism, or whatever else people think. As people try to flee there country to get away from terrorism how could we not accept them. Immigration does not bring all bad people, there are a plethora of people that are just looking for a safe and a nice place to live. We should not address this by shoving everyone out and making us as California a place for freedom look like the opposite. We also should not build a giant wall to keep them out, I know a couple of friends that are trying to get there papers, but it is a long process and it is a personal issue for me.

Week 12

This week was a productive week building the structure of the Sanctuary. Yesterday we all individually worked on things as for sawing was my duty. The piece of wood that was making it incapable for us to put in the doors is now both removed. As well we have to make steps. At the beginning of the week we all worked together to pick up the walls and put them together and put screws in the sanctuary. We also discussed maybe if we get a buyer we can go take a field trip to that place and build the beautiful structure up for them.
.  A saying I would say is.. A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.     -- Colin Powell. This saying is one on dreams. You can't accomplish anything just sitting around and doing nothing it takes hard work. It doesn't just involve working hard but also putting your mind to it and saying you can achieve what you want.

Week 11

This week the roof showed up in the Shop. It looks somewhat like a big shed the roof is a burgundy red. All four walls are put together and are painted and look great. We have to still figure out what the final color of the Sanctuary will be. I really like a forest green or a brown. It was a challenge to paint the upper part of the sanctuary having to get a ladder but I was up for the challenge. We have also done quarter performance reviews which went really well with a BBQ the same day. This week was a very successful week and I know it will continue.
In fourth quarter I am going to continue to be the hard worker I have been these past weeks. Will continue to stay off my phone and be on time. I do my blog posts every week and I will continue that. I will make this possible by portioning my lunch time so I can make it back on time as I have been doing. I will stay off my phone as I am distracted with other tasks in class. Those are my goals for next quarter! HAPPY SPRING BREAK! enjoy yours (:

Week #10

So this week was great. We have put together the structure and disassembled it, but we need to find a way to firmly keep it so its steady and safe. We have thought up a speech for the Shark's at Shark Tank,  though we are still revising. It was great to be apart of making the Sanctuary by putting paint and sanding the structure. We have been working and it's been a great week I hope it keeps up like this! Good for ShopMade.
Whom do you admire most and why? I don't admire too many people, but I do admire some. It should be that everyone admires there parents but whom I admire is a person that has been through so much in there life and keeps going. Being hit with all the obstacles life throws at you and still being able to stay positive enough to get through the current situation. To get better from mistakes and succeed. I know a couple, but those are whom I admire so first whom do you admire?

Week 9

This week in Shop made was a big week. We all got together and had a meeting and discussed things we needed to do and ways to make our company better. I think it motivated most to get to work. We have worked on the walls and making the start of a roof. Shayla, Jamaica, and I screwed in the 3 little pieces of wood creating the tilt look. We are about to do the second wall as well. So far we have 3 walls made and a sturdy floor with a beautiful sign to go along with it indicating who is making the sanctuary. It looks beautiful even when it is not even finished because you have the vision of how it will look when its done.
On the other hand it is always good to know what is going on around you. So for the California  drought that has been going on is very serious, maybe never coming to an end. We seem to have a hot summer ahead of us. An above average estimate for summer and maybe even a little earlier. Although El Nino is supposedly going to help the drought.

Week 8

This week was a quite interesting week. We have been working on the wall for The Sanctuary and it is looking amazing. I am glad to say that I helped with the wall and aligned the wood where they need to go by looking at the model. Others have done so much work and we have the windows lined up and we are just sanding the wood to make it softer and if any wood hanging off we will make it smooth. This sanctuary is looking to be around a couple thousand dollars and I wish I could pay for it, would be so cool to hangout in. We have the doors and I can not wait to make the wall that we are going to put the doors on which will be soon.
The link between grades and education is the essential question this week. These two are not the same thing, but have to be at least a little in common. Grades show how much you have learned most of the time. Grades are extremely important for many reasons but education is way more important in the long run because you need an education to exceed in life and go where you want to be, and make money. They link by your teacher and yourself in my opinion you learn by seeing or listening mostly and your grades are determined by your teacher deciding how much effort you have put into your education and grade.

Week 7

This week we worked on the sanctuary. It is a work in progress and still needs a lot more work, But its coming together. Many of us sanded the floor which is a lot more work then it looks like. It made my hands tired. Currently the floor is getting a clear coat and we have to figure out what windows we are going to put and where to place them. The floor looks really magnificent currently and we are gonna make it even better.
Apple is a huge company used by people everywhere. Currently they are being asked to give out information from an iPhone to the government but they refuse. The information on the iPhone may be a lead to the terrorist attack in San Bernardino. It is good that they are not because they could start to think they can access information all the time. Meanwhile we need to know about what is happening. Anyways Apple is huge and you can not sit in one classroom without there being at least 5 iPhones in that room. I wish I could become that huge of a business.

...until next week

Week 6

This week in the shop everyone is starting to build the sanctuary and even though it's just the ground part we have so far. It looks good and I know I will love it in the end. Me and Jamaica are still trying to think of a for sure idea for jars still. We still need to make the pitch for shark tank which seems to be a very difficult thing for us. We have also been thinking about the steps of our company and how we will do those steps. Like for example handing out business cards. I know all of us have friends and family and we have things that we could make for them if only we all advertised it in some way and showed them what we could do. We could stand at break where everyone is and since the snack bar is closed people have a little extra cash on them. I am thinking that we could show them what we got then and advertise or something around that. Handing out business cards is good to so they can look us up and know how to contact us and ask what we have. Looking forward to another week

Week 5

This week while I was present we worked on thinking about the Shark Tank interview on t.v and have to pitch to them the ones chosen to go so that is pretty interesting. Many exchange students and people from our school worked on the garden out in the back my the field and portables. I am super excited I want to plant, it has been a while. There are many things we can plant and we are thinking of that will be right now. We also discussed free will and Determinism which is an interesting topic about if we have free will or everything is already planned/determined for you. Philosophers stated we should not be held accountable for our actions. Actions are your fate instead of freedom of choice. I have been sick most of the week sadly so  I hope I get better so I can plant.

week 4

This week a couple of us girls started talking about making some cool things. Like spray painting jars and doing cool designs. We also worked on painting, I can admit its not my specialty. The finishing product looks really good though. A couple had to take turns painting and none of us good do it just right.
I think the coolest building is the norddeutsche landesbank. I dont know how you can make something like that. Looks as if its hanging and I would not want to have my office in there in an earthquake. There are many other cool buildings but I like how there would be a cool view olooking through the glass window its bunch of stories high and daring. Must have taken a good architect to build this building.

week 3

This week I worked on calculating how much it would cost to get a banner and put vinyl on it. The total price being around forty dollars. That is a reasonable cost for the total amount of work and expenses there will be. For the question of the week, the water supply is from our water cycle that we have, recycling water constantly. It stops by many dams. We are right in the middle of all this and many of us did not even know it, so it is really interesting to know where your water has come from you are putting it in your body. After the collector wells collect the water, it gets put in aqueducts, and pumped to put into storage tanks for costumers. I think it was weird figuring that out kind of but good to know.

week 2

This week I worked on my own jar. I love it, it looks amazing. First I found the sticker I wanted to use and used the vinyl scraps we had to sand blast it which made me so tired and I could not do it well so Ethan finished the parts I missed because there was no sand coming out so they fixed that and got it done also Jamaica helped a lot with my jar. Then today right when I got into class I took the sticker off and now it is finished. It looks amazing. It took almost all week though because there was little time and distractions. The sticker I used was a yin yang sun. This week as well I tried to go look for the rain catcher thing for a project we are going to work on, however I could not find it. We also emailed back a couple people for the designs we are going to make.
The essential question I chose this week is something I think could benefit me in the near future possibly. How can I keep from going into dept? Well the things I know is be wise of your spending. What I found when looking up is try and use cash as much as possible which is something I would like to do, avoid "buy now, pay later" ads or etc. Make a budget for your month and the things you need to pay for instead of going shopping and spending all your money and not being able to pay your phone bill or electric bill. I would like to just pay every bill on time in my future and not have it get doubled. You would need to find a practical job preferring one that requires you go to college because those are the top paid jobs I just do not know what I would be interested in for my whole lives work besides business which is sorta difficult. I would like to avoid credit cards at all costs, but I know they can be necessary sometimes just make sure to have the money to back it up. I need to start saving rather then spending money on things that are going to run out, be pooped out, and worn out. All the unneeded but wanted things.. Well that is the week 2 for me goodbye.

Week 1

This week was partially short for me. I was not here Monday because they couldn't get me back into school here. When I finally got back to Rancho on Tuesday it was pretty hectic. In this class we started working on the Shark Tank pitch in which I was involved in. I tried to think of ideas, but just getting back and not knowing much is hard to do in my opinion. Everyone was working on emailing this girl for an order and the recording of the pitch. I know I did not do much, which I was told it is because I need to get the feel of this class again or something, but I just need assignments for me I have not been assigned to anything besides the pitch which I did not know much about. I would love to bring jars and make some seeing what was made while I was gone, I shall look into it. We discussed what would we do if the U.S. once again held a draft. Well considering I was very low on the list I do not know I never thought of it. I considered just going my choice, but we will see. If I really did not want to I would probably cut off my toe and make my self insufficient for war. If I got my induction notice I would have already had my toe cut off or something because I do not want to be forced to do something I do not want to then it does not count  as a free country for me. Maybe I would just go I do not know we shall see if it happens.
